And then there is the family room. We added coffered ceilings, recessed lighting and crown molding to lift the room and create a spacious feel. The custom cabinetry with lit bookshelves and deep lower cabinets allow for ample storage and flank the gas fireplace with custom mantle. The four-panel, Andersen gliding patio doors open the room; extending the space into the garden and yard. We used sliding French pocket-doors with arched detail between the living room and home-office guest suite to define and help sound-proof the rooms.

The family room featured in this gallery is part of a 600 square foot basement addition designed to add functionality and comfort to an already wonderful home. It included a new staircase, full bath tiled in Carrara marble and home-office guest suite with custom Murphy-bed built into the book cases.
